MATT SIMONS:
To date: over 500 million streams… In excess of 1 million single download sales… 8 million Shazams… Top 5 on AAA radio… #1 European airplay hit… 90 million VEVO views…
US artist Matt Simons has announced the release of new single ‘Made It Out Alright’, available from 19 September via [PIAS]. ‘Made It Out Alright’ is a brilliant slice of contemporary pop that shows the depth of Simons’ songwriting talent and his love of hook-filled melodies and euphoric choruses. The single precedes a 2 month tour of Europe and North America that begins in October, and is a further glimpse of his new album which is scheduled for 2019.
Matt Simons’ last single, ‘We Can Do Better’, has now reached over 50 million global streams. The track spent 2 months in the Top 10 European Airplay chart, and enjoyed heavy support from Radio 2 (B list, former ROTW) and Radio 1. UK press support included The Sun, Daily Mirror, Official Chart Company, and more. For 'We Can Do Better', Simons collaborated with Emily Warren (Dua Lipa / Chainsmokers) & Scott Harris (Shawn Mendes / Chainsmokers).
As a multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, Simons draws on an extensive jazz and classical background. California-born and Brooklyn-based, Matt first broke through in The Netherlands. His single ‘With You’ taken from his debut album ‘Pieces’, went on to reach platinum status. 5 years later, and with two albums and a brace of singles under his belt, he’s now had success across the globe. His last album, ‘Catch & Release’, took his profile to new heights; the hugely successful title-track, and the accompanying Deepend remix, reached #1 across Europe, hitting PLATINUM and GOLD status in multiple European and global territories.
Matt married singer/actor Cassandra Sandberg (http://www.cassandrasandberg.com) in Wallkill, NY, earlier this month (Simons found inspiration for ‘We Can Do Better’ as he was planning to propose). He then dived straight back into his heavy promo schedule in Europe - playing to crowds of 40,000 people at the Stade De Suisse at the Energy Air radio event in Bern, Switzerland and 15,000 in Maubeuge, France on the NRJ tour.
Matt’s forthcoming European tour will begin at London’s Omeara in October, before heading to Belgium, France, Netherlands, and Germany. Once Europe is completed, he’ll begin his North American tour in Canada, before touring across the US, with shows in Boston, Philly, New York, Nashville, Chicago, LA, and beyond.
On ‘Made It Out Alright’, Matt Simons said: “For me this song answers the question, “If you could, what would you say to your 18-21 year old self?” I remember feeling so lost and alone around that time and if I could, I’d let him know everything’s going to be ok.
Although the video doesn’t necessarily represent my own experience, it captures rebellious youth in a really beautiful way. It poses lots of questions that I don’t know the answers to but director Eli Sverdlov paints a very interesting picture that keeps unlocking the more I watch it.”
